Christmas Day 2012

We had a wonderful Christmas Day!!!!!

The kids woke up around 7 and we headed downstairs to enjoy cake for breakfast in honor of Jesus' birthday!!!

In the past we have waited for my family to show up to open presents but the kids were so excited that we thought we could open a few early.  In great contrast to previous years it was a calm and relaxed morning opening one or two presents and playing with them and then opening a few more in a while.

We went with simple wrapping and home made gift tags.

The kids were very excited about their Spnkife (they made up these names!).  When we go camping I hate having a ton of silverware to watch so now we each have one thing to use the whole time.  Of course we've been using them every day already!

Maeve's beautiful ballerina ornament.

The cuties in front of the fireplace.

Two of Maeve's favorites:  Her mailbox and her leg warmers!

Lumberjack Paul in his Christmas jammies playing catch the ball.

OLIVIA!!!!  (we love her)

Once we opened a few rounds we headed over for Christmas brunch.  Yummy Berry French Toast, Sausage Casserole, Bacon, Mimosas and Bloody Mary's.

Who says grown ups have all of the fun?!!!!

This was the first year ever that we stayed home all day on Christmas.  We just hung out and played with toys and enjoyed our day.  Eric and Paul got dueling helicopters and at one point Paul got his helicopter to shoot a missile right into Eric's head!!! Hilarious! Eric and the kids spent hours doing legos, Dad took a nap... it was all lovely.

But seriously at the end of the day I was so spent I felt like I could die!!! And I didn't even have to work the night before!!!  I sat and reflected several times during the day on the outpouring of our blessings... amazing family that gathers with ease and no drama, gifts galore that are always above and beyond any expectations, great food, laughter, silliness.... I just feel so blessed.  Merry Christmas!!!!
