The promise of a rainbow

I did a funeral last for a friend from a few years back.  On the way to the funeral was a stunning rainbow where every color was clear as could be... For me it was a great way to remember that we don't live in the storm forever.

Playground Happiness

After the settlement day I decided to just lay low with the kids for a day.  We rode bikes and laid around and took long naps.  In the afternoon we headed to Gibraltar Playground which is a park I used to go to as a child.  The kids had a great time...  There was a very cool zip line that Noah kept doing over and over again.  After a while they reverted to their normal... Maeve played with mulch and Noah collected nature.   Noah was finding "seeds" that were falling off of a beech tree.  He found something to collect them in and had a giant pile of them.  After a few minutes a butterfly came over and landed on his pouch of seeds and just stayed there.  Noah was beyond thrilled.... he was grinning from ear to ear.  He asked if we could take it home because he was sure it wanted to be his friend.  Sooo... sweet.  It flew away and then just a second later it came back and hung out on his shorts.  He smiled and said "Mommy, this is the best day ever!!!"

While I was enjoying his moment I remembered a quote I used to have plastered on my bedroom wall and it helped me to know I was in the right place...

Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.  ~Nathaniel Hawthorne
