Who's Visiting Today?

Yummy!!!

Well, our little girl is growing quickly! We thought it might be time to think about solids. It's funny how the times change. We have Paul's baby book and he had solids at 2 months. We gave Noah solids at 3 months but he didn't want them. Maeve is now about 4 months and she was thrilled. She watches us eat so intently. I had pizza for lunch today and she stared at every bite that went into my mouth. When she realized that the food we had was for her she smiled from ear to ear and swallowed quickly. Here's the play by play:

I can't imagine having so much joy at rice cereal!

Home Sweet Home: 5 years!!!!

It is so hard to believe, but five years ago in October we put bought our home! It was late October and we took a huge chance on this old house and we have just fallen in love with it!! I look around and can't believe that we have been here this long. We constantly have a project going all the time and as I was working with some contractors today I just realized how much we have really done on this place!

Here is the picture on the listing from when we bought it (hence a little blurry)

Here it is today. It doesn't look that different on the outside. We have had it painted, put on a new front porch, took down the dilapidated awning and porch on the roof. We need to have the whole thing re-pointed, but that will be around $30K!!!

The first project we tackled was this bathroom downstairs. You could literally see into the basement! We put in a stone tile floor, new walls, new electric and new plumbing and fixtures.

This was our office when we moved in. A beautiful paneled room! We just did this project last winter and now we have a great new bright orange office space.

The back of the house was in terrible shape when we bought it. The old second floor porch was enclosed to make a large bathroom but the previous owners left the outside like this.

We replaced the shingles and all the windows and added a window and a vent. Again, the brick repointing still desperately needs to happen.

We really love to have people over and our dining room was so sad. It was dark and the ceiling was peeling. We repainted, redid the crown moulding, added new electric, redid the windows. We love it now!

Noah's room was a huge project as well. The ceiling was rotten so we took it out and built a new one. His room had old knob and tube wiring and pipes exposed everywhere. We redid the ceiling and wiring, put up chair rail, crown, a ceiling fan, and painted.

The whole list (for my perusal)
New downstairs bathroom (new stone tile floor, new walls, new plumbing)
Rewired 1st and 2nd floor
Remodeled Dining Room (new crown moulding, new lighting, new window panes)
Remodeled Office (floor refinished, new lighting, new closet, added window, replaced old windows)
Remodeled Noah's Room (new ceiling, new lighting, new electric)
Remodeled Maeve's room
Fixed Roof
New Siding
Chimneys Repointed
New Gutters
7 replacement windows
New front porch
House Painted
Replaced all rotten wood
New ceiling on back porch

This helps me a lot! I sometimes get frustrated when things don't look like I want them to, but when I look at how much we have done in 5 years I am in shock! I have grown to love our home so much and I feel like it really reflects our personalities. I love that it will never be duplicated and that we are in such a great town where we can walk everywhere! I am still in awe that five years has gone by so quickly and I hope we're here for a long, long time!!!
