How do you like these apples?

This year we joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm share. In the spring we paid for our share of fruit and vegetables for the summer. We had no idea what we were doing, just that we thought it would be good to buy local and pesticide free. The summer has proven to be so incredibly amazing. The flavors of all of our food have been unimaginable. Raw broccoli tastes like a gourmet food! Noah has been a part of his food in a much more active way. He helps to shave carrots (which are purple, orange and white!). He picks green peas, lima beans and edamame (and loves all of them!). We have had so many new foods we had never heard of.

The fruit has been incredible as well. We have been so enlightened, especially by the Asian Pears. I don't know that I had ever had one before and the flavor of them is soooo sweet and wonderful. This week in our share the fruit was so full and large. The pictures show a grocery store sized apple next to our CSA fruit.

We only have a few more weeks left and I am going to be so sad until next June comes around again. If there is a CSA in your area, I highly recommend it!!

4 Months!!!

Our baby girl was 4 months old on the 20th of October. Time flies so fast!

At the doctor yesterday she was 14.8 lbs (70%), 23 inches (50%) and her head circumference was 20%tile. She is a little roll-y poly nugget! She is super healthy, though her thrush is STILL covering the back of her mouth. We were put on a new medicine that is a bit stronger to try to finally kick this infection. Her new reflux meds are AWESOME and she is much happier.

At 4 months she is almost rolling over, she gets completely on her side and then gets stuck. She is holding her head up really well when she is on her belly. She is sooo talkative and shrieks at the top of her lungs and laughs a lot. She likes to be standing in your lap and she loves to see what Noah is doing all of the time!!

She is doing great with her cereal. This morning she ate a whole bowl without any fussing. She is doing great breastfeeding as well. Her sleep is still really great for a 4 month old. We still do the dream feed most nights before we go to bed mostly because I'm afraid to drop it, but I will soon because she is more and more sleepy and less interested in eating at night. Sometimes she wakes up and needs her pacifier, but last night no one heard a peep from her until 7:30AM.

She is still doing pretty well with her routine and generally naps 1.5 hours out of every three.

Overall she is a very happy little girl. I think without reflux and thrush she would never complain a bit, but it's not so bad.

She is starting to play a bit too. She can grab the rings on her toys and pull them to her mouth (which usually has her hands in it!). She will lay and look at a mirror for quite a while and is easily entertained by the person staring back at her. She loves the Baby Bjorn and is now a bit too big for the peanut shell sling. I can generally lay her down outside of the shower and she will wait patiently until I am done.

Noah continues to be great with her. He is a great helper and always wants to hug her and kiss her. His patience is tried sometimes when she is fussy or needs extra care, but I am thrilled with how well he has welcomed her over all. After all, he has been the king of this house and of our entire extended family for 3 years!

We're having a good time with these little ones. I just wish we had more free time to do things as a family! But, we have our whole lives together, right? At least until they don't like us anymore... so I'll take all I can of the wide mouthed grins, baby shrieks, and giant toddler hugs I can get!!
