Who's Visiting Today?

What a week: even angels can fall

Well, it's Friday night and it's been a heck of a week. I feel the need to write it all down, so feel free to pass by because there are no cute pictures!

Our little angel boy traded his wings in this week for some horns. Who knows what got into him, but he LOST IT this week!!!! He suddenly started screaming at the top of his lungs at us whenever we don't give him his way, which only sends him to his room where he screams more!

Yesterday was the pits. He was very tired and grumpy all day. We were invited to the park and out for pizza with some friends. He was fine at the park but when we got to the pizza place he ran across the parking lot. Maeve was in the bjorn. I grabbed him and sat him down to talk to him when he saw his friend and got up and sprinted across the parking lot again. I grabbed him again and this time he wouldn't sit down, just screamed. I gave him 3 tries to sit down and he just screamed at me. I took him to the car to talk to him and he jumped into the trunk and would not come back to his seat. I dragged him to his seat and he kicked me and hit me and screamed some more. I finally got him buckled and he was wildly foaming and screaming and flailing. I gave him another chance to calm down which made him more mad! He literally screamed from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. I can't believe he didn't lose his voice. Every time I tried to talk to him he just screamed and went wild and kept saying I WANT PIZZA!!!! Finally we just wrestled him into his pajamas and turned out the lights. He went to bed at 7:30 and slept until 8 this morning and was much better today.

In the midst of the drama this week, Maeve has also gone through huge transitions. She now prefers the exersaucer so she can watch Noah closely. She is up for much longer periods suddenly and is spreading out her schedule. The crazy woman is sleeping until 7 or 8 most days and I often have to wake her in the morning so we can get out the door. She has suddenly made a switch in her car seat and is pretty comfortable and happy in there.. who understands these little ones!?

But in the midst of all of the transitions (never ending transitions!) I just felt God's presence at work. So many things happened that just floored me...

Ways in which God was so evident this week:

A dad at church who is laid off came in and built shelves for the cabinets in all of my classrooms when I just mentioned it in passing.
The former DCE offered to build me a kitchen in the youth group room. In two days we have scrounged up cabinets and a fridge.
A woman came out of nowhere to chair the Christian Ed Committee (who is awesome)
A Sunday school teacher showed up on my doorstep before I ever needed her.
A new friend at church was in an accident where the back rear axl of her car busted and sent the car into a full tailspin on I95 and she made it safely across a four lane highway and had no injuries with three very small children (one younger than Maeve) in the car. She forgot her cell phone and after a long day they all made it home safe and sound. Ever hear Jesus take the wheel?
Our church caretaker's mother in law passed away and we went to the funeral... in just a few weeks I felt that it was so important to be there.

It feels like so much more than all of that... but I am so grateful it's Friday night and we are home and snug. Here's to a low key and uneventful weekend!!!!

Just Because

It's just fun to take pictures. And I love so many of Maeve's clothes and I want to capture them since she only gets to wear them each once or twice. So we often take pictures just because. And of course they each get a photo shoot!!!!

Doesn't she look like Dr. Evil here?

Family

Noah's preschool is focusing on family units. Each student had to make a quilt square of their family and then it will be woven into a larger quilt of the families in his class. We cut out the people for him but he pretty much did the rest...that's our house in the background, a tree, some grass and our family... isn't it cute?

Look at me!!!

Maeve is in that rapidly changing state where every time I blink she is completely different. She has changed her mannerisms a million little times now. This week she is desperate to see what is going on around her. She used to love to lay and smile, now she wants to be upright, sitting in my lap, or being carried outward facing. She watches every detail of every one around her. She is also SOOO talkative and is much more expressive than I remember with Noah. She will laugh and scream with delight and just babble on and on and on. It's intoxicating!

Our good friends Dave and Diane gave us a cool online gift card for baby stuff and it was a hard pick b/c we have everything. We chose this exersaucer type thing. The seat is a bumbo, it has an exersaucer/snack tray, and the tray comes off and the foam insert is removable and it becomes a booster seat. Pretty handy. Maeve is a little wobbly to sit in it without support but she's thrilled to try it out each time.

Of course Noah had to have a turn with his animals too.
