Apple Picking: Highland Orchards

We spent a great Friday morning at Highland Orchards. My friend Jen picked it out not knowing it was just minutes from Noah's school and our new house! Perfect! So we played on the playground and then drove out to the apple fields. The kids loved picking (and eating) the apples. We got red delicious and mutsu apples. It was just one of those perfect fall days in Pennsylvania....

We carved some pumpkins this year. The first two are pumpkins from my grandfather's garden. The neighbor planted some compost seeds and just waited to see what she got. We found about 6-8 pumpkins and the kids carved two. We intentionally made Maeve's with a "screaming" mouth for obvious reasons. Noah put flowers in his pumpkin's hair and it did also have giant sticks for moose ears but i don't know what happened to them.
The second round were leftover from a church event. Paul let the kids draw whatever they wanted. Maeve scribbled and wanted her hand traced so Paul carved that for her. Noah wanted eyes with eyeballs. Paul carved his own as well.  It looks awesome at night here!!!!

My Maevey

She loves to color. She loves books. She is independent and fierce. She is coy and silly. I love her so much and I know that this fierce coloring moment is so fleeting.....

Roof and Walls!

It was really cool to watch the cranes lift the pieces of the roof up to the top of the house! I love being able to see the progress twice a day since Noah's school is right there.

And today they put plywood on the exterior walls....

58 days!

Peas in a Pod

These two are cuter than cute.  Everything Noah does Maeve wants to do immediately.  It's very cute and he doesn't seem to mind.  They run in circles around the house, they color together, they tickle each other, and they generally enjoy each other's company.

Of course, the other day Maeve did something he didn't like and he said "I hate you, Maeve."  After some time alone I went to talk to him about it.  I asked him why he said it... and he said "Annie at school said she hates her sister, so I said it too." Of course he didn't know what it meant.  And of course, we are learning LOTS of new words from kindergarten that I am confidant aren't on the reading list!!!!!
