Our First Parent Teacher Conference

Last week we had our very first Parent Teacher Conference with Noah's teacher.  It was wonderful!

We have had such an amazing experience so far this year.  Noah's teacher, Miss Hanrahan is absolutely wonderful.

She shared that Noah is a total joy to have in class.  He is affectionate, caring, fun, and very smart.  He is in the high level reading group and is breezing through math.  She gives him extra work to keep him challenged and often has him helping other children.

She thanked us for making the trek every day from Birdsboro to Downingtown and assured us it was worth it because Noah has already made strong friendships and connections in the class.

A few funny things:

Noah loves to wink.  Miss Hanrahan loves to wink back.

Noah has his longish side swept hair.  The teachers giggle about how he sweeps it out of his eyes.  One day in circle time he swept his hair out of his eye and hit a girl next to him.  She squealed "Noah hit me while he was fixing his hair!" He felt terrible.

Miss Hanrahan has a color system as many teachers do.  When she sees a child doing something nice without bragging or telling anyone she moves them to blue.  It is rare to be moved to blue and it involves peeking in a locked treasure chest and picking out a special surprise.  Noah has been devastated that he hasn't been on blue yet.  This actually surprised me because he is always doing things for others.  Apparently he does dozens of things that qualify for blue but he always runs and tells her and then she can't give it to him.  Poor guy!

Noah is well above average for letter sounds and Kindergarten standards.

It was a wonderful chat.

It is good to hear all of these things because we were nervous for many reasons.  Every parent must worry about how their child will do in school!

Great job Noah!
