An early surprise

On Thursday I picked up Jenn (another old friend) from the airport. We really don't see each other that much, but we snuck in three visits this year...which is unheard of. I picked her up because her mom was turning 60 and there was a big party on Friday night. Well, we had a surprise pre-party before the surprise party. We all got together Thursday night at Jaime's and Jenn's mom thought that this small gathering was her big party. So, I was lucky to spend time with both Jaime and Jenn as well as her parents and siblings. We had a fantastic and relaxing night together.... just like old times!

Like No Time Has Passed....

We are really blessed to have lots of friends from different parts of our lives. Over the past few weeks we have been able to reconnect with some of them and we are always amazed at how it seems like time is irrelevant with old friends. We pick up right where we left off and share everything without hesitation.

The first of these visits was with our dear friend Ali. She was a member at our last church and quickly became a close friend to both Paul and I. She is currently serving on a ship in the US Navy in Japan and had a few weeks home to take a class. We were lucky enough to get on her itinerary on her way to DC. We went for lunch and then came home and talked for hours over yummy afternoon tea on a crisp fall day. We could have kept chatting forever. But alas, Ali had to keep moving and head on to more friends before she headed back to Japan.

I think I used this picture during the Iceland blogs, but I still love it to death. I carry it with me everywhere because Noah is so cute!!! It is definitely a favorite photo. This week I even entered it into a Gap Casting Call contest! Hope your Friday was great!

Boston here I come!!!

Hilarious!!! I got home yesterday and opened the prestigious Oxford Tribune. There was a front page story on the Oxford Festival because there is NOTHING to report in this town. There was a great pic of the 5K starting line and I just turned the page to see if there were more pictures. On the second page was a picture of Paul walking with Noah and right next to their picture was the list of race results. Women 20-29 3rd place --- Stephanie Ashford!!!! HILARIOUS. I don't know what my time was, but I'm convinced that there must have only been 3 people in my category!!!! I hope this gives you a good laugh about small town living!!!

Favorite Foto Friday (#9)

Today and Tomorrow I am at Crop for a Cure which is a breast cancer fundraiser. Hundreds of women scrapbook for 3 days and the money you pay for the event and all the stuff you buy there goes to Breast Cancer Research. It sounds a little hokey, but we stay up all night and have an AWESOME time. I'll be with Yaz, Joanne, Amy, Katie, and Jan. I can't wait!!! Here we are at another scrapping event at our church.

Keep an Eye On Him

That's the understatement of the year!! Noah is impossible to keep an eye on! But those are the instructions from the ER doc.

Tuesday morning Noah was goofing around and fell off a kitchen stool and landed square on his back and head. He was pretty upset and wouldn't let go of his head. His cry was a whimpery cry, not a normal "ouch" cry. We tried to distract him for a while and he seemed okay. We took him to school and headed out. When I came home from a meeting, Paul said that he had vomited all over him after playing on the swing outside. He thought he had swung him too much. But then, just a few minutes later, he woke up crying and I went to check on him his hands were full of blood. He was bleeding out his nose.

I called the doctor and she said to go to the ER immediately. These were dangerous signs of a concussion. Great. Off to AI Dupont we headed at 11pm. We were on the "fast track" which meant we got put in a small private waiting area and only had to wait 3 hours to see a doc.

Every nurse and doctor seemed to think something different. The first one said it was nothing. The nurse said if he was holding his head that was bad. The next one said they were thinking of a CT scan. Finally at 2:30AM the doctor said if he hadn't had any recurring events than we should just go home and keep an eye on him -- oh and don't let him fall for a few days. HAAAA! Wednesdsay brought just a slight nose bleed in the evening and now we are back on track.

Just wanted to keep you updated for those who are wondering how he is!!!!
