Noah's Reptile Party

It took us a while to come up with a theme for this year's party but finally we agreed on reptiles.  The school policy is that everyone in the class must receive an invitation if handed out in school, so we invited the whole class and our friends from Oxford as well.  It was a wild time of 6 year old madness for sure!!

We hired Critter Caravans to come and share an afternoon of reptiles but they were VERY late so we had to entertain a bunch of children for quite a while.

For food we had a snake cake, dirt, green jello, a watermelon carved into a turtle, fossil cookies, and reptile cupcakes.

Outside the kids painted forked sticks to look like snakes.

And tried to blow the longest bubble snake.

We all enjoyed Noah's snake decorations.

But Critter Caravans were AMAZING!!!!!!

They allowed the kids to hold the reptiles and Noah was allowed to spend as much time as he wanted with every animal.  The wild part was this was a 6 year old party and they have parties for every age.  I can't imagine what they bring for an older party!!!  It was truly amazing to see the kids interact with these awesome animals.

We had a wonderful day and sent everyone home with their own bubble snake maker, a lizard book marker, fossil cookies and some fireworks magic snakes.

April 26, 2012

On Noah's birthday he woke up super early and was very excited for the day to begin. Afi and Amma gave Noah two awesome leaves from Ikea for his bedroom and they were hovering over him when he woke up. He was so excited to see them! We headed downstairs for a fun breakfast and then since it was a rainy day we called a friend to see if she wanted to go to Bounce U with us. It also happened to be free pretzel day so we stopped for soft pretzels on the way!

We bounced for a long time and then took our friend with us out to lunch.
Noah requested pizza for dinner so when Daddy came home we went to Noah's favorite, Joey's pizza.  We came home and had a yummy ice cream cake.

Noah got to open his presents from us which was silly straw glasses (some for Maeve too!) and glow in the dark bubbles.  We also were able to snag some tickets to the Phillies on April 29th for the Phillie Phanatic's birthday.  Noah really likes the Phanatic ever since he did an assembly at his school.

Noah also got to open some puppets from Afi and Amma which he loved as well.  After a super fun day we all snuggled in to watch Cars 2 and stay up late!!!  Happy Birthday my big man!!!

6

On April 26th, my dear little guy turned 6.  It's been a wild ride for sure.

At 6, Noah is a very curious, loving, and friendly little boy.  He is outgoing, polite, and witty.  He loves legos, animals, and books.  We are currently reading the Magic Tree House series and besides the names of towns and cities, he can read the books without help.

Noah is about to finish Kindergarten and like his mother he loves learning.  He is a sponge for knowledge and loves everything presented to him.  He has yet to say he is bored with anything and is very excited about all of the experiences he has.  He loves his teacher passionately and has made lots of sweet friends.

Noah can ride his bike without training wheels, plays soccer, and does Karate.  He can swim the length of a pool and and jump off the diving board into the deep well and swim to the edge.  As he has always been, he has very little fear.  For example, today was pond day at school... Noah dug his fists into the sludge the teacher grabbed from the pond looking for tadpoles.  His classmates watched with bug eyes afraid to get dirty.

I don't have his stats because we haven't been to the doctor but he is shorter than almost all of the kids in his class.  He has a late birthday comparatively but I believe he must be due a growth spurt sometime soon.  He is as skinny as a pole with every rib sticking out!

Since our move there has been very little time or need for television in the house.  Noah plays outside every second he can get.  He plays school, pirate ships, monopoly, gym class, or sometimes just rolls down the hill.  He does like watching Star Wars with daddy during their bonding time and he still really enjoys the young preschool shows like Diego and Kai Lan.  He has a playmobil barn that he plays with for hours and his animals will still capture his attention for long periods of time.

Noah continues to have an insatiable interest in the bible stories he hears about. He processes things very deeply and holds on to them.  You never know when a question about resurrection will surface.  He has been asking about Lazarus for weeks and he often asks me if I am excited to see my grandma again when Jesus comes back.  Tonight's bedtime conversation centered around Judas and why he would tell the guards where Jesus was.

The sweet picture here is Noah's birthday morning with a requested chocolate chip muffin and chocolate milk.  Yum!

Delaware Children's Museum

On one of Noah's many random days off of school we headed to DE Children's Museum.  It was a mini version of Please Touch and the kids had a blast.  The best part -- it was their 2nd birthday so we all only paid $2!!

Can I hold her?

When we went to visit baby Emma Noah got to hold her and ever since Maeve has been asking for a chance to hold her.  So when we got to host baby Emma here Maeve was THRILLED to have a chance to hold her. Here are the cuties from a playdate and Noah incognito as the bunny rabbit.  A little creepy, eh?

You thought Easter was over...

But alas, I have located MORE pictures of Easter!!!

A friend of mine has chickens and she brought me the most beautiful natural eggs that were already green and blue and brown.  I wanted to make something with them so we blew the insides out and put them in a very pretty basket.  Noah was a champ at getting the yolks out... he did MUCH better than me.  And yes, his nails are painted from a local easter egg hunt.  FUN!

We had a regular egg dye kit from last year and the kids enjoyed that as well.

It was another wonderful moment in the days of the TA family!!!
