So, I haven't given a nursery update in a while. Let's just say, it hasn't gotten much easier! I wanted to lighten the room -- it was a deep blue. And I didn't want it to be too girly. So, I got beige and green and pink at the store in samples and painted a swatch of each. I hated the pink and liked the beige and green. So I went ahead with that and I really liked it. But, it looked completely different at night than during the day! The direct sunlight allowed the green to be exactly what I wanted, but the artificial lights made it look limey and horrible.
So, I went to the store and bought three more green samples and hated them more. I tried to go to a Benjamin Moore Store to get a color from the Pottery Barn catalog that way I knew I would like but, but no dice... it looked even worse. So, 7 greens later, I decided to stay with my original one. Go figure.
After that I tried to decide what kind of bedding and curtains I wanted. I was trying to keep the owl theme in mind and I found an owl set from Pottery Barn that I liked. I ordered it all but it was on back order so it wouldn't be there until June. Ugh. I thought I could work on curtains then and unbelievably there were NO bright curtains anywhere that weren't neon. I looked at so many places and all I found were drab colors or nothing in our abstract sizes. So, back to Pottery Barn, even though I didn't want to spend what they wanted. Luckily we have an outlet near us so I went in and told them that I wanted this Brooke Owl Bedding and curtains to match. I couldn't decide between pink and green and so I bought 7 different kinds (4 of each) to bring home to try out!!! As it turned out none of the greens looked right with the green on the walls so we tried to go with a solid pink. They were too short and they didn't have longer ones so back we went to get longer ones in a light pink stripe. (if you are still reading this ridiculousness, kudos to you). I got curtain rods at target and one of them was broken. Mind you, it is an hours drive to anything resembling a store around here. Ugh.
So, pink curtains and a pink rug later, I was realizing that the room was becoming more and more girly! But.... I kind of liked it....
And then I was at the regular Pottery Barn store and they had the Brooke bumper in stock. So, I bought it and returned home with that and the Penelope one to compare. The Brooke bumper simply didn't look right in the room. The green was way off and it didn't seem to match the furniture/style.
So, at this point, I think I am going to keep Penelope even though it is more pink and keep Brooke sheets for the owls. See how ridiculous I am? Seriously... i have issues. But, right now I still have both bumpers.
Then I headed to artfire and etsy for owls. I bought these light switch covers and fabric to make a bulletin board and some other stuff that hasn't come yet. Slowly but surely it is all coming together!!!!!!
I'll keep you posted on the finished product-- who knows it could be COMPLETEY different in the next month's time!!!!!
Thanksf or humoring me!
